How Often Do You Need an Eye Exam?

How often you need an eye exam can depend on many factors, such as age, family history, and other health conditions, such as diabetes.

The general recommendations are:

Once every year for children and teens 17 and under

At least once every 2 years for adults 18–64

Once every year for adults 65 and older

We may also use additional diagnostic technologies and techniques, such as optical coherence tomography or Optos retinal imaging technology, to take detailed pictures of your retina and examine your eyes closely.
